Zones of Regulation

Students have been exploring their emotions and calming strategies through the Zones of Regulation. While learning how to bring us back into the 'Green Zone' and stay calm and happy, we have had discussions, activities, role playing and made a classroom wall mural to help understand the four zones. Students directed and acted in their own movies teaching the rest of the school about the Zones of Regulation. Students have also been 'filling up each others buckets' by understanding the positive and negative impact our behaviour can have on others. 

Number Sense
Students have been enjoying our play-based learning centres which focus on broadening their number sense. These games have included dice activities, domino's, card games, blocks for counting and patterning, and more.

Reading Strategies & Home Reading
Students have been learning and utilizing reading strategies to broaden reading and understanding skills. These strategies provide students with techniques when reading unknown words. We are also beginning home reading this month. In the home reading you will find a description of the reading strategies so students are able to practice both in and out of school.

Communities We Belong to
We have begun our journey of belonging. We are learning about the concept of community. Students are going on an exploration of the special groups of people and places that they are apart of. We're constructing a suitcase and scrapbooking each community that we learn about.
